I left school at 16 to join my Father in the local mine, the economic climate at that time around my locality gave me little option. On the plus side this gave me access to a subterranean world that not only gave me an income but also fired my imagination and ambition to create and experience the wider world as an artist.
I took the risk of leaving “safe” employment in 1988. I then began work at a local recording studio creating Artwork for rock groups around the Nottinghamshire area (demo cassette inlays, brand/band logos, backdrops) this lead on to my involvement with the burgeoning “Rave Scene” where again I developed “flyers”, backdrops and fantasy environments for events throughout the UK. This work was carried out from my studio above the “VIBALITE” offices under the name “TEKYAREDOFF”.
The higher profile that this allowed caught the attention of mainstream Leisure operators and my team and I were commissioned to create artistic focal points, murals, sculptures and interior design schemes for many nightclubs, bars and restaurants both nationally and internationally.
My current series of artistic works is one which I feel brings together all of the aforementioned aspects, such as mining and the bar and club scene along with eccentric characters met along the way. The paintings, although figurative in nature do have elements of abstraction contained within their style. The works I produce are representative of the way in which I view the world- ‘Through cracked and twisted, rose-tinted glasses’.
As these works are all part of an upcoming exhibition, I will only be selling the art as stretched canvas or Giclee prints. However, private commissions such as portraits and tonal abstract paintings are always considered.
