Artist Melanie Armstrong

My work is based around anthropomorphism and is very illustrative in its style. I sometimes add text to depict an animal’s thoughts and emotions. I have always loved animals and enjoyed drawing them since I could pick up a pen. The medium I've most often worked with is ink on canvas. I enjoy the flow of ink and the splattering you get when applying it with a stick, broken quill or fountain pen. I am influenced by the works of Ralph Steadman, Hunter S Thompson, Goya, Rob Ryan and many others. I studied Fine Art, painting and printmaking (BA Hons) at Sheffield Hallam University and since then have sold in many of Sheffield’s art /craft shops and galleries. I've also completed a number of commissions in a variety of styles to suit the client's requirements. Enjoy.
