My artistic education began during my A levels, taught by Dan Fooks, an illustrative oil painter of nature whom I became very inspired by. I was shortlisted in 2007 for the Godalming Sixth Form highlights exhibition locally and soon after I undertook an honours degree in architecture at Oxford Brookes University and there aquired another meaning to art and science. I have always enjoyed painting from nature and in particular I find portraits the most challenging, interesting and deserving of accolades. My work is directly sourced from nature in mostly oils but I choose to use watercolours and inks to. Painting a photo is not my intended goal as an artist. Though I strive for a close relationship with a photograph I intend to reproduce it with the vibrance and emotions only an artist's medium can create.
