Artist Mike Livesey

I’m a self-taught artist and have been painting in various media for most of my life. Over the last 20 years I have specialised in watercolour because I feel it is the medium best suited to portraying the transient beauty of nature. My paintings are not designed to be ‘worthy’; they are simply an emotional and impressionistic response to what I see. I am fascinated by the ephemeral effect of weather and light on everyday subjects, and particularly the tranquilising effects of water.
