 Niall McWilliam was educated at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art between 1982 - 1986. Awarded the Elizabeth Greenshields grant and the John Kinross Fellowship (Italy 3 months) after qualifying.
Edinburgh based artist Niall paints contemporary themes which enable the spectator to draw upon a variety of experiences. He aims to conjure moods which his audience can share and enjoy. He has developed his painting techniques allowing a layering of materials which are built up creating a visual depth to his work. He has extensively researched and recorded the coastlines of Scotland and will always return looking for new inspiration. Recently he has returned from China and is building a new collection of work based on Asian symbolism. The layering technique has been modified and includes acrylic painting and cut out imagery - The frames have also been decorated and finished with black lacquered frames.
