| I have been painting and drawing all my life and am part formally-educated in Art, and part self-taught. Following "A" Level Fine Art and a Foundation Course in Art & Design in the 1980's, I then pursued a technical and town planning career.
My work involved technical drawing of plans and maps, illustration and graphics, much of which has been published in government documents. I changed careers in the 1990's which has enabled me to dedicate more time to my artwork.
Much of my artwork is commissioned portraiture. I strive to capture the spirit and personality of my subjects, be they human or animal... that little extra something that a standard photograph cannot convey. I specialise in pastels, other dry media and mixed media, but I also paint in acrylic and gouache.
It should be said that I do not put any confinements on my art, and will freely explore different styles, genres and mediums. My artwork has sold to private collectors as far afield as Australia and the US, in addition to mainland Europe and the UK.
