I discovered art in my late thirties. Painting has given me a creative outlet that I so badly needed and harmony into my life.
My latest exhibition of works form a collection called 'Blue Eyes Beauties from Heaven'
november 2010 to january 2011
The works are all acrylic on canvas or canvas board and represent to the 2 key elements that we need to appreciate art, our eyes and arguably colour.
The works depict the eye(s)as an object of beauty and in there own entirety without any reference to reveal age, skin colour or expression.
The objective with this project was to show just how powerful the image of the eyes are and how often they can be overlooked by other features of the human face.
When i completed the first of the works, Annie named after my mother. I positioned it in my room on a table so i could keep casually glancing at it, to see how i felt about the painting which is something i often do as part of the painting process. This painting gave the room a presence and a feeling of comfort in moments of relaxation.
I like to think these paintings remind me or will remind you of someone no longer around or that has passed away but still in some way watching over me from some far away place and able to tap into my conciousness.
The paintings are very textured with hair detail and lines of colour between shapes being applied, so the original paintings require an encasement type frame rather than traditional frame where the glass presses against the image.
I hope you enjoy my work.
