I am a self-taught artist.
As a young man I was a deck officer in the Merchant Navy, travelling to Australia and the Far East.
Later, working ashore, I drew cartoons and illustrations on a semi-professional basis for the house magazines and newspapers of various companies.
After taking early retirement in 1995, I began painting full-time. My subject-matter is mainly (but not exclusively) related to the sea.
As well as in exhibitions in London and the South East, my work has been shown at The Saltgrass Gallery in Lymington, The Nevill Gallery in Canterbury, The Llewellyn Alexander Gallery in London, The Cross Gate Gallery in Lexington, Kentucky and, currently, at the Francis-Perry Gallery in Eastbourne. I have also written articles on painting techniques for The Leisure Painter Magazine.
I have had work selected for the:
Royal Academy Summer Exhibition
Royal Society of Marine Artists
The Royal Society of British Artists
South East Open Artists
