I cannot remember a time when I did not either draw or paint even as a child. I attended Sherwin Knight Primary School in Rochester, Kent where I had several of my pictures hung in the assembly hall. I attended Temple Farm Secondary School in Rochester and whilst there entered The Medway Art Competition and won 3 out of 4 years. On leaving school my art teacher was shocked when he learnt that I would not be going to art college but alas had to get 'a proper' job to earn money to help my family.
In 1973 I became interested in birds of prey and the sport of falconry and within a short period of time I had several of my own birds which I trained to flight. During this time the beauty of the birds whetted my appetite to start painting again and have never stopped painting since. My interest in painting is not limited to purely birds of prey, although this is my favourite topic, I do also accept commissions from people, usually by photograph, to paint either portraits, animals, landscapes or abstract art. I would say that my preferred style is realism with a large amount of detail.
Over the years I have tried various mediums including pencil, acrylic, water colour and oil but nowadays all of my work is in oil. My next venture is to try and get a picture accepted into next years Royal Academy Summer Exhibition where I am putting 2 pictures forward.
