I am a self taught artist. I first developed an interest in painting after meeting a well known local artist whose watercolour paintings inspired me to have a go myself at painting in watercolours. This artist very kindly gave me a couple of lessons in watercolour painting and I became hooked.
Although I enjoyed watercolours, I soon discovered the joys of acrylics. This is now very much my preferred medium as it is so versatile and can be used to create a wide range of different painting effects. I particularly like the bold bright colours that can be achieved with acrylics and how they can take on the style of an oil painting.
I am particularly drawn to painting seascapes or landscapes involving water. Sometimes I paint real locations but the majority of time my paintings tend to be fictional places. I often do not have an initial plan, but like to just begin painting and see where it takes me.
