Artist Rachel Lawrence

I am fascinated by the human figure and images, especially the way our body language can express feelings and emotions so strongly without the need for words. I aim to tell a story, and to draw viewers into the environment, actions, thoughts and feelings of the people inside the paintings. Human connections and relationships, whether seen or behind the scenes, play a large part in most of my paintings. I am also interested in the way the human body moves, and its varying shapes and sizes. I love using acrylics for their depth, texture and malleability, and the tactile nature of this medium - I like to touch and feel the paint before and during application.
