I have a rich background in both art and design. Studying illustration at university and then gaining employment as a graphic designer, finally working as a highly respected designer and artist within the music industry. I oversee a lot of work as well as designing my own pieces and keeping active as an artist in my own right.
My work can best be described as digital collage and has featured on clothing, new media and in print. I have seen my work grace many a record sleeve, tee shirt, flyer and CD cover over the years as well as gracing numerous client’s walls. My work both as an artist and as a designer has gained a growing amount of interest over the years and I have seen the demand for my work increase. In May of 2009 I had a two page feature published on my work in a national music magazine which has lead to even more interest.
The work you see here are pieces I have created as a free, unhindered expression of my ideas, both visually and metaphorically. A lot of themes in my work are based around human nature, both collectively and individually. I am mainly influenced by pop culture, politics and the structures of our urban environment. I try to express these ideas visually often focusing on abstract concepts which seep into my work almost subconsciously which I off set with my attention to layout and composition which overlaps from my life as a designer.
To me as a designer as well as an artist I see the importance of aesthetics as being as important as the expression and communication of ideas which is why I feel my work is at first pleasing to the eye and also carries a message. I like the idea that something can be not only beautiful but also strong, beauty with substance.
