Roger Metcalfe is an English artist living and working in Southern Portugal, who has for 20 years, specialized in painting ceramic tile murals.
He studied architecture at Canterbury College of Art and worked as a graphic designer in London before moving to Portugal in 1979. There he learnt the technique of ‘Majolica’ painting working with ceramic artist Kate Swift, and in 1986, with Kate, established a studio that has received international acclaim for its distinctive work on tiles.
Roger receives many commissions for his work and has painted murals for clients in the UK, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, the USA, Canada, Mexico and Australia.
