Graduate of Glasgow School of Art : Drawing and Painting Graduate of Jordanhill College : Teaching Diploma Graduate of The Open University : BA (Hons) Exhibitions in Glasgow; Edinburgh; Stirling; Harrogate; Brighton Private commissions in Portraiture; Specific themes created according to the client's brief (a particular interest of mine) I create "characters" in my work, wit an implied narrative which is completed by the viewer according to what they see in the painting. My influences range from Titian, Velasquez and Rembrandt to Bacon and Giacometti alongside a strong interest in photography and classic cinema. I enjoy stories in all their forms and there is always some element of that in all my work. I am also a musician (jazz singer) so musical forms and influences are part of my approach, with the improvisational element of jazz always there.
