Artist Sara Brighty

Sara graduated with a BA Honours Degree in Fine Art at Sunderland University with her dissertation and major projects exploring the figure and the representation of the nude in art.
Sara is a qualified Art teacher, with experience of working with teenagers and adults in formal education and within the community. She has worked extensively with adults who suffer mental ill health and supports students who suffer from autism or disability in a learning environment.
In her personal work, Sara brings together her passion in both painting and photography, to create colourful unique works inspired by people and their surroundings. Often working from photographs she has taken or images and sketches, these snapshots of everyday life are used as a starting point for her paintings which offer a form of escapism, a time to contemplate.
Sara has been involved in various collaborations and arts projects and has exhibited work in the UK and India. Sara was also interviewed and broadcast on Sky Arts, following her hour on the 4th Plinth in Trafalgar Square, as part of Antony Gormley’s project One & Other.
