 My name is Sarah Wilson. I started painting canvases in 2005 when I was in university studying Interior Architecture and Design. In many way my backround in design influenced my art for a long time. As my interior and architectural deisgns were very neat and geometric, so was the art I produced. Over the years, as my geometric style has evolved, others started to appriciate them. It started with my firends and family commissioning and buying pieces from me. Soon people who visited them started to ask and commission pieces of my work.
I left university over two years ago, since then I've been inspired by my dads love of art. My dad has always been an artist and has, in my opinion, a unique abstract style. He'd been sculpting for a few years but in the last year and a half he's started painting again. The passion he has for is work is contagious and as I no longer felt the constrainst of my design past, my art became less geometric and more abstract. I have started using different materials, such as wax and cardboard, in some of my pieces. I believe the pieces i have created this year have a feeling of freedom, unlike to rigid control from my earlier artwork.
I still enjoy and appreciate my geometric pieces but at the moment I am enjoying discovering and developing my artwork. I only wish for other people to appriciate my work, it is my passion. I hope my work will always be developing and one day I will be able to paint and produce art full time but until then the moments I spend in front of a canvas with be my release.
