Artist Simon Slater

My name is Simon Slater. I am 28 years old and I have been painting now for just over five years. I started painting by accident when my girlfriend bought me my first paints and canvas. I now paint regularly as I find it extremely relaxing and it's a great outlet for my creativity. It's not easy to define my style of painting as I don't stick to one particular style, mostly I would say my pieces are abstract and often experimental. I love experimenting with colours and am constantly searching for new ways of applying paint on canvas. I live in Prestwick but split my time between Prestwick and Glasgow. I find myself taking inspiration from the hustle and bustle of the city and the tranquility of the Ayrshire coast. Also over the past few years I have spent a lot of time traveling and the intensity of the colours and the breathtaking landscapes I have come across inspired me to encapsulate elements of this in my art.
