Born in Oxford, Soraya has lived in both France and Algeria. Having studied Art and Design at Liverpool John Moore majoring in Contemporary Textiles and Surface Design, she now resides in Manchester with her partner and daughter.
After University she took a different path working in finance for a couple of years, although always painting in her spare time she felt that she wasn’t able to express herself freely, continuously having new artistic ideas but no time to see them through . She has now decided to fulfil her lifelong ambition and concentrate on painting full time.
She’s influenced by other artists such as Claude Monet, Lucie Bennett, Aurora Robson and Jenny Seville and takes inspiration from nature and the environment around her, exploring natural shapes and forms. Comfortable using various mediums such as Oils, Acrylics, Collage, Inks and watercolour Soraya delves into colour, texture and depth allowing the viewer to look beyond the paintings and into the stories each one tells conjuring an individual conceptual meaning. Her Artworks hang in private collections in the UK and abroad.
