Artist Stanley Greenhalgh

My work has developed over the years through sculpture, painting and drawing. I have always enjoyed the processes of applying paint to canvas and the tactile quality of clay and have tried to apply these qualities to my drawings; recreating on paper the scratches left in clay and kind of surfaces I was achieving with paint. I have always been from the 'old school' of thought when it comes to materials and process, but lately I have also introduced technology and found it has allowed me to take my drawings to new levels. When it comes to the content of my work, my struggle is to disguise the narrative and leave only clues. 'They are, essentially, ambiguous and their theatrical quality suggests something is about to enter stage'. I have exhibited around the UK, in France, Holland and USA.
