I attended art college in Leeds in 1968 and did teacher training at Goldmsiths College of Education, as it was then. I have pursued an interest in art all my life, having studied it through the years of earning my living as a primary school teacher and bringing up my family. I am inspired by the great water colourists - Turner, Girtin, Cotman etc. I am also a great admirer of Picasso, Matisse, Rothko, Degas, Hockney and many others.
I gained a great deal of satisfaction from teaching art to young children. It is only in retirement that I have begun to develop my talents seriously as an artist. To my surprise I have gone from strength to strength - having attended some courses at Hereford College of Art, which got me started I now devote all my time to painting and drawing with a passion to improve and to succeed in representing the beauty and dynamism of the visual images I see all around me. Also I continue to have tuition and advice from the tutors at 'studionostra'. I am lucky to live in a very beautiful part of the country and a lot of my output is in the form of watercolour landscapes. I also produce still life paintings using acrylics and, lately, oils. This is my background. I hope that my pictures will speak for themselves.
