Private commissions from the public sector run into well over a hundred and continues. Several private collections have begun since 2006. (UK, Europe, Australia, Portugal, USA)
I am a self taught artist. Emigrating to South Africa in the early 1980’s I continued my artistic journey in several different mediums including hand-woven mohair tapestries. I moved to the UK in 2000 and continued with watercolours while dabbling a little in ceramics until early 2006 when I discovered my talent for creating with fabric!
Every sculpture is individually created by my hands in Shropshire and each piece is unique from the making of the frame to the dressing, draping and wrapping of the fabric to the completion of the sculpture so although may it be similar to another piece, no two are ever identical.
As Britain’s leading Hardened Fabric Sculptor, my unique creations are an interesting contrast to more traditional sculpture, statuary and wall art.
A paradox between fabric and form, the bespoke, intriguing sculptures are created by combining pre-formed, often recycled structures with wet, resin-soaked fabric which is used as a fluid and flexible skin for the three-dimensional life-size figures, contemporary abstract climbing figures and wall murals drying to a hard, subtly sensuous and tactile finish. (Some sculptures are available in limited edition cast bronze).
Each piece tells it’s own surreal story inviting a second look, touch or thought!
