I began painting in 1990, concentrating mainly on townscapes and buildings. In 2006 when I retired I started to take my painting more seriously and studied Botanical Illustration with the London Art College. Painting flowers from life almost became an addiction. I am constantly amazed by the different, and immensely complicated structures of plants and flowers. Because there is so much minute detail to even the most humble of flowers, a lot of my work has to be done with the aid of a magnifying glass in order to capture the accuracy. Although I paint most of the time from life, I have found it necessary to keep a library of detailed photographs, so that I am able to create paintings out of season for commissions. Thank you for viewing my paintings.Artgallery rating
