I have been painting and drawing all my life.I am trying sculpture too,and I am fascinated with the visual side of self expression.I also write , poetry and essays, although this is not my main creative interest.I went briefly to Glasgow School of Art, in my teens, and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art a few years later, and I studied History of Art at the Open University in 1995 , gaining a BA Degree.I have exhibited in many venues in the UK since 1964, in shared and solo shows, and I have sold pictures to customers in Australia, and Paris.I had a touring exhibition in Angus in 2003, and a show in MacNaughtan`s Bookshop in Edinburgh in 2011.I had a one woman business selling my paintings a few years ago, and I joined a local Open Studios group.I work for the WEA, and I have done art therapy , demos, workshops, and lectures.I have had artwork in many galleries in the UK.I was shortlisted for the J.D.Fergusson Prize twice. In my creative work I try to achieve a harmony, using ideas, colour/composition,and I experiment with styles and media, glazing with tints.I am fairly traditional, and I am looking to represent meanings underlying my perception of the concrete world.Lately I have been doing Scottish landscape /seascape, particularly the Highlands and the West Coast, expressing the feeling I have for my native country. |
