From Glasgow, Thea initially studied at the Billede Kunst Skolen in Copenhagen, before working on a year long art project and then returning to Scotland and continuing to train at the Edinburgh School of Art.
Thea's technique originates in figurative painting and is the influenced by the use of vibrant colours. Inspiration comes from sketch books and her camera, which are always to hand.
First Thea choose a ground (canvas, plexiglass, plastic, wood), then construct the concept in charcoal or pencil and use thin layers of acrylic glazes for depth. Layers of paper soaked in pva combine with brushing glazes to build up the background texture and depth. Often pieces are finished with a varnish seal.
Thea's work is held in private collections throughout the UK and Scandinavia, and is exhibited through local galleries and personal shows.
