Artist Tim Gilpin

Much of my recent body of work is concentrated on large landscapes in oil and small pen, ink and watercolour illustrations. I am inspired by the pockets of space in and around cities - parks, commons, wasteland, docks - that act as buffer zones from the 24-hour clang and din. As an incessant doodler, I fill copious notebooks full of quick line drawings; people standing at train stations, reading on buses, dogs in parks - I have a thing about drawing dogs.

I grew up in Northern Ireland but have lived in London since 1996, where I've pursued a more sobering career in publishing. However, the free time I have is largely spent in front of a canvas.
