Artist Tim Serle

Having worked in Agriculture and Civil Engineering for twenty five years I developed a chronic back condition that left me with few options but to retrain. At this point in my career and four young children to support I chose to direct my enthusiasm towards Graphic Design and graduated in 2002 with an Honours Degree from Plymouth University College Somerset. After working in the Design industry on computers for two years I had a overwhelming urge to create tangible objects and artworks. As I had worked with my hands for so many years with a multiple of materials prior to retraining it seemed natural to use them creatively.

My Mixed Media, (Wood Veneers & Acrylic paint) artworks are an eclectic mix of influence from Agricultural, Civil Engineering, Art & Design, combined with my experiences living and working in the Devon countryside. The Veneers as a medium empathise with the delicate details of textures and surfaces in our countryside. The backgrounds are flat areas of green depicting our sometimes less than thoughtful, or intolerant interference with this delicate interconnected ecosystem. Together they capture the excitement I experience when spotting Fauna and Flora in the natural rural habitat of Great Britain.
