I love painting for how it is a silent act with a product that exists as a complete original, but also how they can change in different lights and how they offer up something different each time you look on them, and so the surface of the painting and how it changes is as important to me as the colour and the form. A painting should create a new world in itself and my work tends to evolve from the direct experience of a place or event and scribbled drawings rather than a photograph in order to do this.
