I am an artist from the Wirral, but now based part of the year in South West France, and paint principally in acrylics.
I started painting when I was about 12 but had to give it up whilst studying for my A levels in order to concentrate on science subjects – I ended up reading chemistry at University College, Oxford, and have followed a career in business and finance.
I picked up the brush again about 7 years ago, and found that I enjoyed painting more than ever, quickly regaining my confidence and creativity and have been selling my work successfully for a number of years now, via both physical and online galleries.
My work is quite varied, but consists generally of a mixture of abstract compositions and semi-abstract landscapes, usually in vibrant colours. I am particularly interested in often unseen organic forms, such as microscopic or macroscopic images (maybe it’s the scientific background creeping in), and colour relationships and their effect on mood. I also love the organic forms of the Art Nouveau period and the subtle designs of the Arts & Crafts movement (antiques of this period is another interest).
My work is sometimes planned and sometimes unplanned - I often like to see just what develops over time (sometimes quite a long time!), and usually work on a number of pieces simultaneously.
I am happy to work on commissions in similar styles for private or commercial clients.
I hope you enjoy my work.Artgallery rating
