Living in a beautiful seaside town , the stunning landscape and natural surroundings are a constant source of inspiration. There is nothing more wonderful than sitting on the beach sketching with the waves licking your feet, or finding a perfect pebble with its unique markings and textures and wondering what its history is, what far flung places has this pebble been and what has it seen. Equally there are beautiful woodlands in abundance, with all their many shades of green.
Another source of inspiration is the female form in all her glory, no matter what shape, size there is such a beauty there. What I love about the female form is that there is such a fluidity, drawing is such a pleasure as the lines just flow. It is my intention to capture her spirit on paper, whether she has a fragility, a certain “attitude”, or an abundance of sexuality. My drawing style and mediums used change in accordance with whom I am drawing, their personality and the energy they give off.
I am intrigued by visual representations of women within our culture, I take inspiration from pornography and wonder if the fact that I have drawn/painted an image with the same pose if the context has changed due to the fact it has been created by a female artist, if my personality, technique and choice of colour has changed the visual language.
I am addicted to rough or buff (available on orange mobile internet). I for one cannot understand why women and men (but not as many) post pictures of themselves to be rated in such a way and I find it very interesting how they depict themselves through their pose and composition. I like the way a picture is composed through a camera phone when you take the picture yourself.
Education followed the normal path, ended up working on various community arts projects and exhibited throughout Yorkshire until the birth of my child. Priorities changed I want to stay home. Developed my skills to include silver jewellery which is currently being exhibited in Cloughton, Scarborough.
