I work under the name Furballs and have been an oil pastel artist since the age of 12. I am completely self taught and have only ever worked in oil pastel, developing a style unique to me. Over the years I have had to do jobs for survival in order to fund my art and also I have run my own galleries in the past 14 years. I now work from home in my summer house overlooking Port Navas Creek, selling most of my work through the web rather than exhibitions. Oil pastels are very misunderstood especially the way I use them and clients are amazed that my pictures look as though the colour has been applied with either brush or air brush. Wildlife studies are a large part of my subject matter but I do tackle other areas too. Commissions also play a large part especially family groups. |
