My name is Tunde Komar. I am a Hungarian born artist, trained in Budapest, who now lives and works in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. I work in a variety of mediums, predominantly acrylic and oil, to produce mandala art that is food for the soul as well as the eyes. I draw my inspiration from my meditations and day-to-day encounters with the wonderful people and beautiful surroundings of my new home.
Mandalas originated from the sand drawings created by ancient Tibetan monks to help quiet their wandering minds and bring themselves back to the inherent beauty all around them. I believe that to understand a mandala as a piece of art helps us to understand more of ourselves and so allows us to share more of our being with the world at large. The principle requirement to create a mandala is a quiet, focused mind to ensure that the finished picture inspires the same sense of inner peace in others. Mandalas have also long been used in various forms of medical therapy where they act as centres of focus and healing for patients. Their vibrant colours have a direct effect on a persons ability to focus their minds to aid in the bodies natural healing process.
It is my deepest wish that my art will help to spread a little peace and tranquillity throughout the world.
