My name is Vijayesh Sivarajah, born and raised in Puducherry, a beautiful former-French Colony in South India. Since childhood, I dreamed of becoming a professional artist; my uncles Jayaprakash and Ramamoorthy were inspired and guided me through their experiences. As a first step in my journey, in the year 1997, I enrolled in the University of Pondicherry and successfully achieved my Bachelor in Fine Arts. After finishing my studies I gained experience by undertaking solo shows around India and sold some works to various private buyers.
2001 brought the biggest change in my life, when I immigrated to the United Kingdom. I attended East London University and continued to evolve as an artist. However, due to financial circumstances, I discontinued my studies. I started working for Stage Coach as a bus driver. I still did not give up chasing my dream and every opportunity I had from then till now I took to advance my career.
The themes of my work are poverty and affliction and how they effect and reveal human nature. As an artist, my aim is to show that, in every human’s heart, is the desire to make the word ‘a better living place for future generations’.
