I have always had an avid interest in art, from a very young age, I have experimented with a wide range of media from charcoal, pastels and watercolours, through to oil paint.
Presently I mainly enjoy working in oil, in both figurative detail and fresh, impulsive abstract. Colour is very important in my work and I find oil possesses the best qualities to bring out the essence of a subject. That said, the immediacy and convenience of say, the chalk pastel has a quality all of it's own.
I enjoy all manner of subjects, landscapes, portraits, urban scenes, etc. and look forward to tackling new and challenging subjects in the future.
I completed a BA honours degree in fine art at Cumbria College of Art and Design in 2000 and have since shown my work in exhibitions in Carlisle, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
