I am a Dorset based artist having lived in the area all my life. In my work, I try to evoke the disposition from the time the image was first captured and transfer that emotion to canvas. I do not set out with a plan for my work, simply remember the time the image was captured and approach it with texture and colour appropriate to that moment. I record the scene via a quick sketch at first, then a digital photograph to work from. From these recordings, I have an idea of the mood of the moment as well as a realistic copy. I am an inherent artist using Oil, Acrylic, Gesso, Watercolor and other less commonly used materials such as Latex and Wall Grout to translate my emotions to canvas.
I studied Art and Design at A-Level and progressed onto a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Bournemouth Art Institute. After completing this, I progressed to BA Modelmaking for Design and Media at which I am still studying. However, with this chosen pathway in mind, I still have a passion for fine art and the organic approach to art.
Artists that I have and still do use for inspiration are Martin Procter who uses quick sketches on site to produce his striking compositions, a technique I have adopted. Other artist’s works I use to inspire my work are John Piper, Peter Dworak, Dirk Skreber and Yves Tanguy.
