Artist Zoltan Harkin

Since studying Art and Design in Pforzheim, Germany in the mid 90's painting has remained an important part of my life. Since then I have exhibited in group shows in Germany. I have recently started to exhibit my paintings and drawings with increasing success here in the UK. Amongst others, I have exhibited and sold at the Chichester Open Art Exhibition, as well as in the Summer Exhibition of the Royal Academy of Arts, London. Since becoming a Friend of the Royal West of England Academy, Bristol, I have also exhibited in the friends exhibition in the Royal West of England Academy's Autumn exhibition. Inspiration for my art is taken from both urban and rural landscapes, but often also still life. Most of the time I paint from memory, which helps me to focus on gesture and colour instead of slavishly copying what's in front of me. It's this immediacy paired with a careful composition which keeps my paintings fresh and allows the viewer to enter into a dialogue with the paintings.
