artgallery.co.uk has new owners

Mike & Aileen Mitchell are delighted to announce that they have acquired the artgallery.co.uk business from UKcentric Ltd. UKcentric's Gordon Smith is looking to focus on his core businesses and was keen to ensure that he found enthusiastic buyers for the web-site which he established in 2006.

Mike & Aileen Mitchell live near Cirencester in the Cotswolds and Mike has just taken early retirement from a major financial services business. Art-buying on-line is a growing sector and they are looking forward to building this business into a major on-line venue for the appreciation and purchase of British art.

They loved artgallery.co.uk’s unique “test drive” facility which allows buyers to see the painting hanging on walls in rooms which can be changed to simulate the buyers’ own house/office environment.

Gordon Smith said “I am really pleased to have sold the business to people who care about the concept of exhibiting artists’ work and who want to work with artists and customers to develop further the UK’s premier virtual art gallery”.

Aileen Mitchell, who loves art of all kinds, and has been responsible for the design and interior of several houses in the Cotswolds, is very excited about taking the business on to the next level, “Gordon has created an excellent web-site and we are looking forward to working with artists and growing our customer base to build a very substantial business”.

Mike confirmed that the business had seen record sales in the summer and was looking to benefit from major on-line and off-line advertising/p.r. activity on the run up to the Christmas buying season.
