In this unframed work I have tried to add energy to an otherwise static pose. The free
painting style is in direct contrast to the tightly curled, almost still life figure study.
The limited palette is calming and the lively brush strokes add an illusion of movement and stress. Although the simplicity of the composition and colours reflect the repose of the sitter, for me this work expresses conflict and repose.
