This juvenile grey heron was very tame and allowed me to study him in detail. I love herons, so was pleased to be able to capture such a beutiful subject.
The painting is in oil on canvas. Being an oil painting the surface is very durable so no glass is required. It is painted on a box canvas, the sides of which are painted so there is no need for framing. If you wish to frame it then it is quite simple as it is a standard size canvas so will take a standard size frame.
As with most oil paintings there is a certain amount of relief caused by the brush work this means that any photographic reproduction of the painting can't do it justice, if you like the photo you will find the actual painting far more impressive.
