Description of artwork Chess based painting which describes the moment World Champion Garry Kasparov resigned to IBM's chess computer Deep Blue in1997. Kasparov was playing with the black pieces and had resorted to the unusually defensive 'Karo-Cann' position in a desparate attempt to thwart IBM's super computer. He failed and the media had a field day, claiming that computers could now out-think man. In the painting you can see how white is totally dominating black, which fades into the ether. N. Dawson
