	The grand canal in venice . I visited Italy recently and venice in 1980 and studied Italian architecture . This painting reflects the textures and colours of the venetian landscape . Having visited Portofino in Italy I was really struck by the colours of the buildings reflected in the clear waters and this painting is an impression of my visit . There will be a series of paintings focusing on Portofino as well as some photographic portraits in sepia which is part of this series of paintings
