Postage Stamp Collage---
Vivienne Westwood is truly inspiring. From Pop culture to cutting edge couture she is at the forefront of British quality, workmanship and creativity. In this portrait which is made from over 4000 used postage stamps there is a Union Jack in the background, red to the left, blue to the right, torn asunder by the fluorescent orange of her hair cut zigzag into the stamps for an ebullient punk effect. The softer more delicate 1950/1960s stamps are evocative of the delicacy of some of the fabric styles and the subtitle ‘Seasons’ comes through the inclusion of the slashes of fabric showing stamps representing spring, summer, autumn and winter.
