Postage Stamp Collage---
Initial contemporary comment described the original by Mondrian as, "Work like 'Composition with Red, Yellow and Blue' acquire a new filigree monumentality, yet technical quality of mechanical repetition which reinforces the abstract character of the picture". Approximately 600 used postage stamps have been applied in this kinetic rendering. At the intersection of horizontal and vertical lines the stamps appear to produce visually flickering optical effects, which disappear once the eye rests upon them only to reappear as the eye moves on. A further illusion is created at these intersections as the stamp on the crossing of horizontal and vertical appears to have a larger white outline.
