This work, part of a series of similar works all featuring Leith Walk in Edinburgh, depicts a cafe. The artist has merged a photograph into a painting of acrylic, with fragments of original 1950s materials used as collage. The shop front has added texture. The work seeks to evoke a sense of continuity with the past, and, as is usual with the artist, does not show people, only buildings, hinting at a sense of isolation, yet also solidity.
