This is part of a watercolours series of St Paul's Cathedral.
Subject of controversy, fights and contradictions in the last year, St Paul has undoubtedly left its mark in my subconsciousness.
Throughout the series, I have explored different combinations of colours and textures. In some parts of the original paintings,I have used masking fluid to add a sense of depth. I like the contrast between the finest details in some parts of the cathedral, i.e. the upper colonnade in the dome, versus the looseness of shapes and free flow of colour in others.
In this particular version, what predominate are orange tones giving an overall sense of warmth.
Limited edition, hand finished giclee prints, on high quality watercolour paper.
