We grew these classic Halloween pumpkins last year - not a bad crop, despite the poor summer. We were cutting them up to make soup, and I found the different textures - the hard, shiny skin, the juicy flesh, the stringy centre, the slithery seeds, all irresistible. And the low, November sun coming through the window seemed to make the pumpkins glow.
The picture is painted on a deep (1.5") canvas and has a plain wooden frame stained black and waxed
