Sometimes you can have just too many marrows, and this crop was exceptional. We stacked them in an outhouse, ate all we could, gave some away, and still there were more. I got the seeds a bit muddled, so we had these three varieties all growing together amongst a mass of foliage. This was the view into the outhouse; the low autumn sun gave the scene a slightly Chardin-like quality, I thought.
This painting is framed with a good-quality simple rounded moulding which is finished in a warm silver colour.
