About the original picture:
There are three different varieties of pear here - from left to right, Comice, Williams and Conference, I think. I seem to remember that they tasted pretty good, but I chose them for the variety of their skins and overall shape. They seemed to make a charming progression from short and dumpy to slim and upright. I also love this piece of cloth, found in an old fashioned haberdashers, and which seemed to work well against the yellow-green of the pears.
About the print: This is a giclee print of the painting, produced to standards set by the Fine Art Trade Guild. It is in a strictly limited edition of 95, signed and numbered. Each one is printed with archive-quality inks onto heavy (310gsm) acid-free etching paper. The prints are window-mounted with thick mounting card (the mount adding approximately 7 inches to the width and height of each print), then backed and cellophane wrapped for protection.
