Pauline Thomas is well known for her bold stylised paintings celebrating the Welsh landscape, as well as her powerful thought provoking works of art. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in London and throughout the UK, Europe, Canada, USA and Australia. Her work can be found in private and public collections throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Dubai.
Her work is regularly exhibited alongside world renowned artist Armando Farina. Pauline was also awarded the Diploma of Academician Member of The International Academy Santarita, by Armando Farina in 2014.
Pauline works in a variety of mediums from traditional painting techniques using oil and acrylics, to a new art form of digital painting and manipulation. Pauline is unafraid of experimenting in new ways of producing artwork, which has allowed her work to develop outside the confines of convention and enabled her to produce works of true originality.
Using traditional methods of painting Paulines' Grand Prix series has been very successful. Pauline was a finalist of the “UK Liberte d' Expession Competition” and exhibited in Montreal in 2006 to coincide with the Grand Prix. Pauline was also awarded the Diploma of Academician Member of The International Academy Santarita, by Armando Farina, for artistic merit in 2014 and awarded third prize in the free form section at the International Art Exhibition Sfer Art in Turin 2014. Some of the series have been used to decorate the lobbies of major blue chip companies including Petro Canada, Barclays Bank at Canary Wharf.
Pauline was invited by renowned Italian artist Armando Farina to exhibit at the cultural art exhibition “A Bridge between Cultures and Differences” in Turin, Italy in 2009 and is now a regular exhibitor in Italy. The series has also been published as illustrations in the Petro Canada calendar and North East Scotlands Magazine for New Writing “Pushing out the Boat”. Consequently many of the paintings in the series are now available via a number of art publishers as fine art prints on paper or canvas.
Paulines' new media art has also been successful receiving international recognition for the Tsunami series. Pauline was selected for the International Art Competition “Hands Off” in 2007 with Tsunami II and another of the series, Tsunami, was recognised as work of distinction in the Americas Biennial in 2008. The images were also exhibited at LACDA the Los Angeles Centre for Digital Arts as well as being shown at the Melbourne Digital Fringe festival in both 2008 and 2009. Since her success with the Tsunami series Pauline has produced a collection of images called the Oceanus series which has been very successful in the interior design market.
Her work has also been used as book illustrations in the “Origin of Cancer”, by Springer and “Pushing out the Boat”, a magazine for new writing. Her work has also been used in calenders and web based advertisements.
Pauline draws her inspiration from her life in west Wales, her past work in the agricultural sector working within the changing landscape, weather and rhythm of the rural way of life.
Some of her works have been inspired by the folklore and history of the surrounding communities tempered by her personal experiences and emotions. Paulines' artwork provokes thought and stimulates conversation, ideal for the collector, modern home or innovative business.
