Description
'Wytche Wood — Samhaim: Autumn Colours' original mixed media painting (28x36 inches). Samhain (pronounced sow-in) is an ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest and the start of winter. The autumn colours seen during this season—fiery oranges, deep reds, and dark earth tones—reflect the earth's natural shedding, the dying back of vegetation, and the ceremonial bonfires central to the holiday.
In the painting, tall slender trees with bare branches reach towards a textured sky, while autumn leaves are scattered throughout the air and ground. The background showcases a gradient of soft blues and pale sunlight, evoking a serene landscape. The sun’s rays, weaker with each passing day, no longer warm the air but instead cast long, cool shadows across the patchwork of leaves, seeding blooms, and bees searching for a place to hibernate. The painting is signed on the front and back by artist Cyndy Cmyth.
