The very breath of spring..a Peak District landscape.
An original oil painting signed by Sarah Gill 2013. This vibrant painting is framed in a stylish and contemporary oak frame, under glass, ready to hang.
Here in the Peak District, where I live, winter lingered through March and deep into April. Snow lay thick on the rugged hilltops through the weeks when spring normally turns the pastures green. This painting captures a windy spring day, a row of bare branched trees, twisted and gnarled by the biting winds, stands proud . This is known locally as The Toothbrush..
The dry stone walls of the White Peak form crumbling grids across the yellowing grass. Spring arrives on the April winds as the landscape dances with dappled sunshine.
